Job description

RIKEN, Japan’s flagship research institution, is seeking a creative and professional science communicator to work in its Global Communications Team. The role entails working as a member of the team in charge of global communications at RIKEN, focusing on the following tasks:
PR and Media relations

  • Working on the selection of English-language scientific press releases, writing, distribution and follow-up on full-length press releases
  • Building relationships with journalists from around the world and working on the maintenance of our database of contacts

Other tasks of the team include management of RIKEN’s English language website, including writing news stories, sending information to RIKEN’s Twitter and LinkedIn accounts, participating in the selection of articles for RIKEN’s English-language PR magazine RIKEN Research, editorial and writing work for publications such as RIKEN’s English-language Annual Report, planning and organizing journalists visits and science communication seminars, attending events abroad to increase RIKEN’s visibility, and planning new global communications strategies. The candidate will be expected for work principally on press relations but to work flexibly with other tasks of the team.
